As much as we want things to get back to normal, our staff appreciates the extra time they have to spend with their families.  The car business has some pretty long hours and having a little extra time each week to spend with family has been very much appreciated.  We want to thank all our loyal employees and clients and wish everyone good health and happiness.  We look forward to serving you in the future!

2020 Chevrolet Camaro Stripes Explained

Last year, GM Authority delivered a comprehensive deep dive into all of the available 2019 Camaro stripes. Now, we’re doing the same, but for the the 2020 model year. So, without further ado, let’s check out the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro stripes and hash mark options.  If you would like to see or drive a Camaro in person, please visit the Ron Westphal Chevrolet showroom today.  Or, visit us online.

Overview

In total, there are five total designs for 2020 Chevrolet Camaro stripes, including hood stripes, center stripes, rally stripes, hash marks, and body-side spears. In addition to these five factory-installed Camaro stripe options, two other stripe options (stinger stripe and spider stripes) are available via Chevy dealerships as accessories (LPO-level items).

Additionally, the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro stripes are offered in eight different colors:

  • Black Metallic
  • Black
  • White
  • White Pearl
  • Nightfall Gray Metallic
  • Silver / Silver Ice Metallic
  • Hyper Blue Metallic
  • Red

Taking into account the stripe design and color, a total of 27 possible combinations are offered.

GM does not offer any 2020 Chevrolet Camaro stripes for models equipped with the 1LE performance package, whether that be LT 1LE, SS 1LE or ZL1 1LE, since those models already get a bevy of satin black accents, including on the hood and on the spoiler (for LT and SS models). However, the LT 1LE and SS 1LE packages do offer a 1LE hash mark decal as an $85 option. Those who desire any more striping on their 1LE-equipped Camaros will have to turn to the aftermarket once their Camaro has left the GM Lansing Grand River factory and landed at their dealer.

Happiest Cities in America includes Aurora, IL

The U.S. Declaration of Independence speaks about the “pursuit of happiness” as a universal right. However, everyone gets joy from different things, whether it’s family, friends, activities, entertainment or work. What people might not realize is that where you live may also determine how happy you are.

Location plays a hand in how bright or gloomy our days are. For years, researchers have studied the science of happiness and found that its key ingredients include a positive mental state, healthy body, strong social connections, job satisfaction and financial well-being. However, money can only make you so happy – people who make $75,000 a year won’t get any higher satisfaction from more money. Consider also the fact that while the U.S. is one of the richest countries, it ranks only 19th on the World Happiness Report.

But not everywhere in the U.S. experiences a uniform level of happiness. As this study aims to illustrate, moving to a certain city may help you be more content. WalletHub drew upon the various findings of positive-psychology research in order to determine which among more than 180 of the largest U.S. cities is home to the happiest people in America. We examined each city based on 30 key indicators of happiness, ranging from depression rate to income-growth rate to average leisure time spent per day. Read on for our findings, methodology and expert commentary from a panel of researchers.

To see which states combine all the necessary components of happiness, check out WalletHub’s report on the Happiest States in America.

One Future GM Electric Vehicle May Be Introduced Earlier Than Planned

Despite the pandemic, GM is moving forward with its EVs.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in widespread disruptions and delays throughout the auto industry. Despite this, General Motors’ future EVs are still on track, as outlined by GM CEO Mary Barra during the recent first-quarter 2020 earnings call. Now, it looks as though one future GM electric vehicle could even arrive earlier than planned.Source: One Future GM Electric Vehicle May Be Introduced Earlier Than Planned

In a recent call with journalists, the Vice President of Electric and Autonomous Vehicles at GM, Ken Morris, indicated that one EV program may be pulled forward.

As reported by Inside EVs, Morris made the statement following a question raised by Bengt Halvorson from Green Car Reports. Morris did not detail which GM electric vehicle would possibly see an early introduction, but indication that any future GM electric vehicle was moving ahead of schedule certainly comes as a surprise.

What’s more, Morris indicated that several other GM electric vehicle-related plans remained unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that GM’s deal with Honda to produce two new electric vehicles was still moving ahead, and that plans to source new renewable energy from DTE were also on track. Morris also said that GM’s $25 billion budget for EV programs was still in place.

Despite assertions that the GM electric vehicle strategy was moving ahead as intended, the COVID-19 pandemic has nevertheless resulted in at least a few delays, most notably with the debut of the Cadillac Lyriq crossover and the debut of the GMC Hummer EV pickup. The upcoming reveal of the refreshed Chevrolet Bolt EV has also been pushed back.

Still, Morris’ assertion that the automaker’s overarching strategy remains unaffected comes as good news for those eager to see the new GM electric vehicles.

As a reminder, GM has declared that it will introduce at least 20 new all-electric vehicles by 2023. Prior to the nationwide lockdowns put in place in response to the spread of COVID-19 in the U.S., GM held an EV Day event where it revealed its new Ultium battery technology and previewed future GM EV models like an electric Buick crossover. GM is targeting one million EV sales by 2025.

Someone Converted This 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Into A Practical Little Pickup

This custom Chevrolet Caprice pickup is currently for sale at a used car dealership in Pennsylvania for $7,995. Check out the listing at this link for some more photos and information on the world’s only Chevy El Caprice-o.

Looking for a real pickup?   Check out the inventory at Ron Westphal Chevrolet or call them now at 630-898-9630.

The Chevrolet El Camino went out of production after the 1987 model year, but there are some GM fans who still seek that combination of passenger car maneuverability and pickup truck practicality. While this 1991 Chevrolet Caprice pickup conversion isn’t the only homemade El Camino-style vehicle we’ve seen, it’s probably one of the better ones. This project car is still a work in progress, but the previous owner has already done most of the hard work in converting the rear end of the sedan into a pickup.

The interior needs finishing and there are a few other spots that may need some work, but other than that, this strange El Camino-inspired Caprice (El Caprice-o?) is pretty much complete. Oddly, the builder has decided to include rear passenger seats in this Chevrolet Caprice-based pickup truck conversion. The rear seats are essentially sitting in the bed of the truck and are preventing the cabin from being completely closed off with a rear wall and window.

If this project was ours, we’d probably remove the rear seats and build some sort of partition between the cabin and the bed. It looks as though the rear passengers’ heads would be sticking up above the roofline, anyways.

Over time, there have always been (mostly unfounded) rumors that General Motors was looking at bringing the El Camino back. The automaker came close to introducing a similar vehicle with the Pontiac G8 Sport Truck concept, which debuted at the 2008 New York International Auto Show, but GM’s eventual bankruptcy put the kibosh on the ute’s arrival. Some have turned to Australia for an answer, shipping the Holden Ute over to the U.S. and converting it to left-hand-drive, whereas others have gotten a bit more creative and built their own.

Corvette Racing Pulls Out Of 2020 24 Hours Of Le Mans

The Corvette C8.R will have to wait until 2021 to make its Le Mans debut.

General Motors has confirmed Corvette Racing will not participate in this year’s running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The automaker decided to pull out of the race due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and inevitable scheduling clashes with the IMSA WeatherTech series it races in full-time.

Do you want your own sports car?  Visit our website to shops some sporty rides.

“Corvette Racing has a long history of competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so our decision to not participate in this historic race this year was not an easy one,” said Chevrolet‘s U.S. Vice President for Performance and Motorsports, Jim Campbell, in a prepared statement. “Several factors played into our decision, including current conditions and the rescheduled timing. We’re proud Corvette Racing has been invited to the 24 Hours of Le Mans over the past 20 years and regret that we won’t be participating this year. We hope we have the opportunity to race at Le Mans again.”

The 88th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans was previously pushed back from its usual June date to September due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, the newly revised IMSA WeatherTech schedule includes a race at Laguna Seca on September 6th and another at Mid-Ohio on September 25th. The amount of preparation required for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, along with the logistics of shipping personnel and equipment from the U.S. to France, mean Corvette Racing cannot fit in a visit to Le Mans in the same month.

CORE Autosport, which runs the IMSA Porsche GT Team, also announced it would withdraw from Le Mans for a similar reason.
