Nabbing a Ride in the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1755 hp is a number many didn’t believe would ever be available on a road car. Yet there is a host of supercars, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 is the newest.

ROSAMOND, California—755 hp is a number many didn’t believe would ever be available on a road car. Yet there is a host of road-going supercars that are members of the 700 club, the newest being the 2019 Corvette ZR1. However, where other club members rely on mid-engine traction, the Corvette ZR1 is an old-school battle axe that takes aim at Porsche’s GT2 RS scalpel, Ferrari’s stiletto-like 488 GTB, and McLaren’s 720S sharpshooter. From the passenger seat, the Corvette ZR1 should’ve been called “Normandy: Part Two.”Source: Nabbing a Ride in the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 | Automobile Magazine

HANS secured, helmet strapped, I lowered myself into the pre-production Corvette ZR1, still covered in the camouflage and dirt it acquired during testing in Germany at the Nürburgring. Behind the wheel is Chevrolet’s development driver, Alex MacDonald. After I’m buckled in, I shake Alex’s hand and ask, “So, what can this baby do?” Alex replies, “Watch,” and slams my head into the headrest. Expletives and giggles followed.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 side rear viewWithin a blink of the eye, we’re at turn 1 of Willow Springs International Raceway’s Big Willow course. While Alex isn’t fazed, my eyes haven’t returned to their upright and locked position. The key to the Corvette ZR1’s prodigious propulsion is Chevrolet’s new LT5 supercharged V-8. While much of the LT5 is rooted in the Corvette Z06’s LT4, there are some quite significant departures from the Z06’s supercharged small-block, including the mammoth 2.65-liter supercharger. Combined with a new 73-mm throttle body, a new dual fuel system that uses both direct and port injection, a new oil system, and a few other go-faster bits, the Corvette ZR1 makes a whopping 715 lb-ft of torque along with those 755 horses.

10 things you could buy with $200,000 instead of the new Lamborghini Urus

Lamborghini has finally veiled its new SUV. The Lamborghini Urus will set you back $200,000. Here are 10 things you could buy instead.

10 things you could buy with $200,000After months of anticipation, luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini finally unveiled the Urus SUV. Packed with the company’s first production turbocharged engine — a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, 650 horsepower, and 627 pound-feet of torque the Lamborghini Urus is nothing short of an automotive monster, but all of this engineering, of course, comes at a cost — $200,000, to be exact. This ungodly sum of cash got us to thinking, instead of buying this big car how could one just as easily, irrationally, and conspicuously blow this much cash? Here are the most investment- savvy ways to burn nearly a quarter of a million clams. Period.

125 SPIKE THE BEETLE PICTURES

Spike the beetle 10 things you could buy with $200,000

Spike the Stag beetle made our list of best pets of Instagram for his general charm, ornate tea parties, and, of course, his penchant for marker-on-canvas original creations. Spike’s original magnum opus auctioned earlier this year and sold on eBay for nearly $1,600. Spike’s next piece will be sold in the coming months with 20 percent of the proceeds going to People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES).

2 OF THESE CHEETOS

Cheeto 10 things you could buy with $200,000Harambe stole our hearts in 2016 and while his soul has departed he will live on forever in our hearts and of course our shared cultural meme lore. Anyway, someone found a Cheeto that kind of looks like Harambe and another human being paid nearly $100,000 for said cheese-dust thing. More than a year later it’s still too soon. It will always be… too soon. RIP, big guy.

Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Heavy-Duty Trucks Recalled for Gas Tank Issue

Chevrolet Silverado 3500 recallGeneral Motors is recalling about 35,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500 trucks because of a problem with the fuel tanks in the heavy-duty vehicles.

General Motors is recalling about 35,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500 trucks because of a problem with the fuel tanks in the vehicles.

The truck recall affects heavy-duty chassis cab-style trucks with dual fuel tanks from 2011 through 2015 model years.

The automaker said that if the front tank overfills, excess pressure could press it into the driveshaft and risk causing a leak. If fuel leaks onto a hot spot in the truck, a fire could start.

The problem is triggered when the low-fuel-level sensor for the front tank sticks, GM said.

Drivers could hear a knocking or grinding noise if an over-pressured fuel tank starts to contact with the driveshaft, GM said.

Owners will be asked to take their trucks to dealers. Technicians will replace the rear tank fuel pump or update the fuel-level sensor software, as well as inspect the front tank, replacing it as necessary.

GM plans to send recall notices to owners in December and then again in February. Owners can also contact GM customer service for Chevrolet (800) 222-1020 or for GMC customer service at (800) 462-8782. Owners asking about the recall should refer to GM’s identification number for it – 17399.
