General Motors is turning its employees’ empty water bottles into a full new life: noise-reducing fabric insulation that covers the Chevrolet Equinox engine. The bottles – collected from four of its Michigan facilities – are also being turned into air filtration components and insulation for coats for the homeless community.

50th Anniversary Camaro SS
to Pace Indianapolis 500
Racing legend Roger Penske will drive pace car
for 100th running of classic race
Indy Pace Car – A unique version of the new, 2017 Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition will lead the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 next month, driven by motorsports legend Roger Penske, who is marking 50 years as a race team owner.
It’s the ninth time Camaro has served as the pace car and the 27th time for Chevrolet, dating back to 1948.
“Chevrolet and the Indianapolis 500 have a long, storied history and it’s an honor to mark the respective milestones of the Indy 500 race and the Camaro simultaneously,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development and Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “It’s also a privilege to have Roger Penske perform the driving duties, as his team has helped Chevrolet earn four consecutive IndyCar manufacturer titles since 2012.”
Four identically prepared pace cars will support the race, all with exclusive Abalone White exteriors featuring “100th Running of the Indianapolis 500” graphics on the doors and the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway wing-and-wheel logo on the quarter panels. They also incorporate the exterior cues and graphics that are unique to the Camaro 50th Anniversary package that goes on sale this summer.
With 455 horsepower on tap, the Camaro SS pace cars require no performance modifications to lead the racing field.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze Fuel Economy Offers 42 MPG on the Highway
EPA-estimated 42 mpg highway from new 1.4L turbo matches segment’s best
Aurora, IL – Offering EPA-estimated highway mileage of 42 mpg, the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Fuel Economy is unsurpassed in its segment for fuel highway economy.
“Offering a maximum highway range of up to 570* miles per tank– you can spend less time at the pump,” said Steve Majoros, director of marketing, Chevrolet Cars. “The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze has more horsepower and torque, and is lighter than the previous generation making it more fun to drive.”
The Cruze’s EPA-estimated 42-mpg highway rating for L, LS and LT models rivals its competition. It tops competitors such as Focus with a four-cylinder (40 mpg hwy), Nissan Sentra FE (40 mpg hwy), Mazda3 (41 mpg hwy), Hyundai Elantra (37 mpg hwy) and Volkswagen Jetta (40 mpg hwy – non-hybrid).
The top-line Cruze Premier offers an EPA-estimated 40 mpg highway.
The Cruze’s efficiency is rooted in a new, direct-injected 1.4L Ecotec turbo and a leaner architecture, which contributes to a nearly 250-pound (113 kg) weight reduction on L, LS and LT trims over previous models. Stop/start technology bolsters efficiency in stop-and-go traffic, helping the Cruze offer Aurora-area drivers an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in city driving – a 7-percent increase over previous models.
“The 2016 Cruze will be a popular choice for our customers seeking a sporty and efficient vehicle with useful technology and thoughtful details,” said Bill Houlis, General Manager of Ron Westphal Chevrolet.
Aurora-area customers will find it to be the most connected car in its class based on built-in 4G LTE WiFi and connectivity features, including offering new technologies such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility**, a more comfortable ride and an athletic, aerodynamically optimized design, the 2016 Cruze elevates the compact car segment.
It also offers 10 standard air bags, as well as an expanded range of available adaptive crash-avoidance technologies, including Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Alert.
The Cruze range expands in the fall with an all-new hatchback model and the Cruze diesel returns in early 2017.

You probably have a built-in Onstar phone and don’t know it.
Your Chevrolet vehicle probably has an Onstar phone built-in. Yep, your GM ride has it’s own phone number too!
Onstar helps keep you connected even when your cell phone can’t. It’s built right in your Chevrolet and can be activated with a push of a button. And, because it offers voice activated dialing it’s legal to use in your Chevrolet vehicle. Just say the stored contact name or phone number for who you want to call. Your hands never have to leave the steering wheel to make or receive calls. It’s that safe and easy. And, because the phone number is built right in your vehicle, you always have a reliable number to give to friends and family.
Even if your vehicle does not have bluetooth, you probably have Onstar personal calling. Check to see if you have Onstar on your rear view mirror or dash. If you have Onstar in your Chevrolet vehicle, then you have Onstar personal calling available.
Onstar’s signal is significantly stronger than an average cell phone. Shortly after hurricane Katrina, Onstar was one of the few ways that people were able to communicate with their loved ones. Onstar hands free calling is connected to a Vehicle Comm and Interface Module (VCIM), which uses a cellular antenna on top of the car to transmit signals. And, your Chevrolet’s Onstar cellular service has a better range than most cell phones with a full three watts instead of a regular cell phone’s 0.6 watts.
The odds are your GM vehicle is equipped with Bluetooth which is free for life. Onstar hands free calling can be a bit pricey but you might be smart to purchase a small package of minutes so you can make calls in an emergency.
