GM Educator Discount Overview

The General Motors Educator Appreciation Program (the “Program”) provides eligible participants (each a “Participant”)
residing in the United States with the opportunity to apply the program offer to the purchase or lease of a new and
unused vehicle (“Eligible Vehicles”) from a participating dealer. A Participant may also provide eligible individuals (each a

By purchasing or leasing an Eligible Vehicle through the Program, both the Participant and the Sponsored Purchaser

It is the Participant’s responsibility to know these Program Rules and Guidelines and to make them known to each
Sponsored Purchaser. Violations of these Rules and Guidelines by any Participant or his or her Sponsored Purchaser will
result in sanctions against the Participant. The Program Manager shall have sole discretion at all times to enforce these
Rules and Guidelines and suspend a Participant’s and/or a dealer’s participation in the Program.
Applicable state and municipal laws, regulations, rules, ordinances, policies, codes of conduct, and other directives or
standards regarding ethics and gift acceptance by state or municipal employees may restrict and/or prohibit Participants
employed by state or municipal governments from participating in the Program. By accepting offers though the Program,
the Participant verifies that he or she complies with all laws, regulations, policies or other restrictions regarding ethics or
gift acceptance that apply to the Participant.
The Program may be withdrawn at any time, and its terms are subject to change from time to time by GM. Final decisions
in all matters relating to the interpretation of these Rules and Guidelines rest solely with GM.

President Joe Biden plans to visit the Michigan General Motors EV plant

President Joe Biden plans to visit the Michigan General Motors EV plant this week to discuss the recently passed infrastructure bill. The President will also talk about how EVs will reduce emissions, improve air quality, and create jobs. The White House announced the visit to GM’s retooled ‘Factory Zero.’ No other details were released, but GM CEO Mary Barra will attend the invite-only event.

GM resumes production of Chevrolet Silverado pickups in Canada

GM Resumes Production

The first pickup has rolled off the retooled assembly line at General Motors’ Oshawa Assembly Plant, reviving a more than century-long history at the site whose line had appeared to lurch to a permanent halt in December 2019.

The automaker took just over a year to complete the retool, which included the addition of an entirely new body shop where staff will piece together Chevrolet Silverado pickups.

GM Canada President Scott Bell said the 12-month project was among the fastest plant launches in company history, running a full year ahead of typical vehicle launch timelines.

“The rapid retooling, hiring, and training needed to reach today’s start of production was an extraordinary accomplishment,” he said in a release.

The start of truck assembly Nov. 10 is also roughly two months ahead of the original January 2022 target GM shared last November when announcing the up to $1.3 billion investment.

Unifor President Jerry Dias said the return of vehicle production to Oshawa is “unprecedented.”

“It is an achievement owed to the resiliency and dedication of Unifor members. Seeing the first of many trucks roll off the newly re-opened Oshawa assembly line was a proud moment for everyone who fought shoulder to shoulder for these jobs.”

Ground clearance explained

Ground clearance explained

The Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are all-new for the 2021 model year, introducing a wealth of updates and features, including GM’s Adaptive Air Ride suspension. Now, we’re taking a closer look at this suspension technology and how it affects ground clearance for both SUVs.

Looking for a full-size SUV?  Call Ron Westphal Chevrolet in Aurora/Oswego, IL 630-898-9630 or visit their website.

To note, the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban offer Adaptive Air Ride suspension on 2021 and newer Z71 and High Country trim levels. The suspension provides numerous settings that are well-suited for a range of scenarios, both while driving, and while parked.

Listed from the lowest setting to the highest setting, these include:

  • Entry-exit ground clearance
  • Normal ground clearance
  • Increased ground clearance
  • Maximum ground clearance

Ride height adjustability varies several inches between each of the suspension modes, providing either easier ingress and egress, such as with the lowest entry/exit ground clearance selectable by the driver, or enhanced off-roading capabilities in maximum ground clearance mode, selectable when driving at low speeds in 4WD LO.

What’s more, the system will self-adjust, such as by lowering the ride height while cruising on the highway, enhancing aerodynamics and fuel efficiency in the process. Additionally, the system includes a self-leveling feature that will automatically adapt with four-corner load-leveling when packed up with cargo and passengers.

The question is, exactly how much ground clearance is provided with each mode? As it turns out, the ride height adjustments on offer with the Adaptive Air Ride suspension can significantly impact ground clearance, ranging from just 6 inches in the lowest setting and 10 inches with the highest setting.

Check out the table below for a complete breakdown of ground clearance figures for Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban models equipped with Adaptive Air Ride suspension:

2021+ Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban Adaptive Air Ride Ground Clearance
2021+ Tahoe/Suburban
Standard Suspension (in / mm) 8.0 / 203
Air Ride Suspension, Entry Exit Ground Clearance (in / mm) 6.0 / 152
Air Ride Suspension, Highway Ground Clearance (in / mm) 7.25 / 184
Air Ride Suspension, Normal Ground Clearance (in / mm) 8.0 / 203
Air Ride Suspension, Increased Ground Clearance (in / mm) 9.0 / 229
Air Ride Suspension, Maximum Ground Clearance (in / mm) 10.0 / 254

As covered previously, the latest Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban models come underpinned by the new GM T1 platform, while also incorporating a new independent multilink rear suspension setup.

Worst Corvette Color Combination

Worst Corvette Color Combination

It is a universally agreed-upon fact (amongst the voices in my head, anyway) that the C7’s best interior choice was Adrenaline Red, and its best paint option was Sebring Orange… but, because of this annoying color theory thing, perspective owners were forced to make the difficult choice between the two when the time to order came a-knocking. That is, of course, unless you were one shameless customer in Massachusetts who threw complementary colors to the wind and spec’d their C7Z with the best of both worlds. Now, you, dear Corvette Blogger reader, have the chance to be owner number two of this collision of worlds. The worst corvette color combination

Up for grabs from Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Millbury is a 2019 2LZ Z06 Coupe with 3,045 miles, Spectra Gray Wheels, the Z07 Ultimate Performance Package, and a 7-speed manual transmission. It sounds like a perfect build, and that’s exactly what I thought when this bad boy showed up in my Autolist feed. So, what if the red calipers weren’t quite right for an orange car? It happens more often than you’d think, and this thing was the rare find one that was seemingly built just for me! Then, in picture four, more of that clashing red started to peer out from behind the glass. Could it be? A scrolling fury revealed what I had feared, the Adrenaline Red that made Arctic White pop like never before was slathered on the dash, doors, and seats, combining with the orange doorsill to burn my retinas like George Costanza’s shirt.

The worst Corvette Color combination interiorThe worst Corvette color combination?  On the positive side, this final year, C7Z has all of the best options, meaning that it will be the best possible way to experience the 650-horse Corvette. It is also all-but-guaranteed to be a one-of-a-kind build, meaning it could lead to some curiously high bidding at Mecum in 25 years. In fact, the orange over red motif might take its place next to Napoleon Dynamite on the “so bad, it might actually be good” list. At the very least, this Z will start conversations everywhere you go, even somewhere like “the Bash,” where jaded patrons think they have seen everything!
