One 1 Hugger Orange COPO Camaro made and it goes to auction

The 2020 COPO Camaro was offered with an optional 1969 Heritage Package from the factory, which unlocked the ability to order the car in a number of different exterior colors from the 1969 model year Camaro’s color palette. These yesteryear colors included Garnett Red, Butternut Yellow, Fathom Green, Azure Turquoise, Olympic Gold, Frosty Green and our personal favorite, Hugger Orange.

With General Motors only building 69 examples of the 2020 COPO Camaro, and with six other exterior color options available, it was inevitable that some of these Heritage colors would be ordered in very low numbers this year. It turns out that only one person ordered their 2020 COPO Camaro in Hugger Orange, and now the exceedingly rare, factory-built dragster is heading to the auction block.

Not only is this the world’s only 2020 COPO Camaro finished in Hugger Orange, it was also ordered with the optional supercharged 350 cu. in. V8 engine. The COPO Camaro comes standard with a naturally aspirated 427 cubic inch V8 producing an NHRA-rated 470 horsepower, but for$12,500 extra, buyers can get a 350 V8 with a 2.65L Magnuson supercharger. Supercharged models also come standard with a parachute.

In addition to the heritage exterior colors, the 1969 Heritage Package also includes vinyl stripes on the hood and decklid, black Chevrolet bowties, COPO embroidered seatbacks, darkened taillights, clear front and rear side marker lamps and Weld Racing wheels with a satin black finish.

The 2020 COPO Camaro was already a bit special, with GM using it to honor both the legacy of John Force and the legacy of the 1969 model year Camaro, but this ups the ante with both the 1969 Heritage Package and the optional supercharged 350 cu. in. V8. This is pretty much the epitome of collectible modern-day Camaros, but what will it sell for when it heads to auction at Mecum’s Kissimmee sale later this month? We can’t wait to find out.
